Symposium Music - Language - Intendity on April 28, 2017 at the University of Osnabrück

The integration of people coming to Germany in large migration and refugee movements is one of the greatest social challenges since reunification. Crucial conditions for successful integration into the host society are fast and constructive language acquisition as well as a positive self-concept/motivation and the development of a new cultural identity.

Musical-cultural education can be particularly helpful in this process - especially by raising awareness and practicing musical elements of the language (such as speech rhythm, speech melody, intonation, timbre, pronunciation, accents, pauses). Grammatical topics can also be clarified and practiced musically in a variety of ways and, of course, vocabulary work can be excellently deepened in songs and rapped songs.
