Profile Education: Strengthening strengths

Osnabrück, February 2017

Educational scientist Klaus Zierer is calling for a new culture in dealing with mistakes in teacher training and in educational institutions themselves: "We must finally understand that making mistakes is the key to getting ahead." After all, both learning means making mistakes and teaching means making mistakes, he says in the publication "Strengthening Strengths" by the Friedel & Gisela Bohnenkamp Foundation. Our brochure, which we are sending you today, shows how educators and institutions are moving toward a new teaching-learning culture. At its heart is the topic of self-competence. In the publication, we explain how self-competence can be successfully taught in everyday life at daycare centers, elementary schools and secondary schools. With the help of six projects, it illustrates concepts and everyday practice. In an interview, Prof. Dr. Klaus Zierer, University of Augsburg, and Prof. Dr. Claudia Solzbacher, University of Osnabrück, discuss not only the educational approaches behind them, but also current scientific demands for a better learning culture. With this booklet, we would like to offer food for thought and points of contact for exchange.
