Artistic practice also has a beneficial impact on the core subjects of the school day. Together with the teachers, the artistic team seeks out thematic connections. Areas of learning are defined and linked to creative design practices. Through artistic practice—that is, through a playful, experimental engagement with forms and materials—students discover new forms of expression and solutions to a wide variety of topics. Participants approach the lesson topic from a new and unfamiliar perspective and discover self-directed steps toward solutions.
