Live music, poetry slam, dance and theater - the Ökomaile environmental festival will transform the grounds of the Ziegenbrink community center into a lively stage for creativity and commitment on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The program starts at 2 p.m. with musician NAOMI, followed by other acts such as Keit, Hertzcasper, semia, Nur Drama and Flora. There will also be plenty on offer artistically: Dance performances, drama and slam poetry ensure a colorful, varied festival experience until 23:00. The Friedel & Gisela Bohnenkamp Foundation supports the festival, which has long since become a fixed date for young environmental and cultural initiatives in Osnabrück. The Bohnenkamp Foundation thus promotes a format that encourages young people to bring their issues to the public - creatively, with commitment and collectively.
Numerous initiatives and organizations will be presenting themselves around the stage, inviting visitors to join in the dialogue with hands-on activities and information stands - including book.a.vegan, Gemüsegärtner, NEO - Nachhaltiges Engagement Osnabrück, Osnabrück Klimaneutral and Solidarische Aufbau Osnabrück. A special focus this year is on the topic of water as a human right: Viva con Agua is organizing running events in which everyone can participate in order to playfully draw attention to the importance of global water supply. So don't forget your running shoes. In addition, the festival will show the results of the "Water means life" project, which was realized in advance together with the Museum am Schölerberg and pupils from the Heilig-Geist-Schule.
Since 2016, Ökomaile has been organized by a young, volunteer team in cooperation with the FOKUS e.V. association. The festival stands for living sustainability, cultural diversity and committed youth participation - values that are also of central importance to the Bohnenkamp Foundation.
