Art from the neighborhood

From society - for society - in society

The Osnabrück Art Market is developing into a lively meeting place for artists and the public. Following the successful launch in 2023 at the Kunsthalle Osnabrück, the project is now being continued with funding from the Friedel Gisela Bohnenkamp Foundation in cooperation with the Kunsthalle, the Association of Visual Artists (BBK) and the skulptur galerie. The aim is to bring art in Osnabrück closer to the heart of society, facilitate encounters and break down barriers to art and cultural institutions.

The focus is on the art market and exhibition, which bring regional artists together and offer them a platform to present and sell their work. In addition, information events provide a glimpse behind the scenes of the art world: How can you become self-employed? What role do artists' social security funds, tax issues or applications to galleries play? In this way, practical knowledge is imparted that is crucial for the career path of young artists.

A project with many facets

The project is also deliberately aimed at children and young people. Free guided tours and workshops invite young people to experience things for themselves and are intended to arouse curiosity in places where cultural offerings are otherwise difficult to access. Art students gain insights into the planning and implementation of exhibitions - valuable experience that will accompany them in their future careers.

The special feature: The collaboration between different institutions creates a network that will have an impact beyond the duration of the project. Young talents and experienced artists meet as equals, learn from each other and forge connections that can lead to new projects. In this way, Kunstmarkt Osnabrück helps to strengthen the regional art scene, promote cultural education and make art accessible to many people - in line with the foundation's motto: promoting education - taking everyone with you.
